I work with all kinds of patients who are faced with fertility challenges. My fertility patients range from those diagnosed with infertility to the LGBT community who are looking to improve their odds of conception. I offer an in-depth understanding of Assisted Reproductive Technology whether it’s through an IUI or an IVF cycle. My experience comes from working in a fertility clinic in NYC. I also help those who are starting their journey to natural conception and want to increase their chances of a healthy pregnancy and birth.
How does acupuncture improve fertility?
This is the question most people ask me when they find out that I’m an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility. It’s not an overly complicated explanation when it’s at the basic biomedical and physiological level. Acupuncture needles cause the body to activate the “repair response” within the body. That response causes blood flow to bring repair cells, nutrients and health back to the uterus and ovaries. Infertility can be caused from an actual aliment that’s diagnosed, such as PCOS, Endometriosis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, Amenorrhea, recurrent miscarriage, Low FSH and AMH levels to name a few examples, but it can also be caused by structural issues and tight muscles that are causing blood flow to be diminished to the uterine cavity. Acupuncture, fire cupping and Gua sha are my go-to’s for this type of physical blockage. These modalities can unblock stagnation including scar tissue!

My approach to fertility is largely based on the patient’s medical history, but I also take into account diet, lifestyle and nutraceutical supplementation. I delve into each case, combing through any areas that have not been uncovered. It can be a commitment to go through the fertility process, but it’s one that I am willing to make through thick and thin with my patients. I believe aside from the biomedical side of fertility, there’s also a deep, emotional component to the process that is missing on the western medical side of treatments. A big part of going through infertility is having an advocate who can see both sides of the coin from the medical to the mind, body and soul.
